3500 = 1 pound…And then what?

So I understand that 1 pound = 3500 calories.  So if you can create a calorie deficit of 500 each day, in a week you should technically lose one pound.  Technically.

Ok, this I just another reason why exercise is important.  It’s easier to me to create the deficit via both eating less calorie dense food and exercising hard.

I bought a book called “Crack the Fat Code” on Friday and took it back on Saturday because there was no way I was going to follow the plan.  It noted that your body adjusts every 3 days with regard to reserving energy (storing fat) and adjusts every 2 days with regard to conserving energy (slowing down processes like your metabolism so that your body uses energy more efficiently).  There was no way I was going to be able to do the Carbs up, carbs down, low fat, low sugar…whatever…everyday a different thing.  I need a consistent, boring, low sugar, whole food eating plan.

The thing that I think is interesting in all this is that my problem is not food or an eating plan.  It’s discipline.  It’s making a decision and sticking to it.  It’s choosing a healthy lifestyle that will change my life for the better.  Why is it so hard to make this ME honoring decision?  Why is it so hard for me to do the things I really need to do so that I can have the outcome I really really want.
